Hi all,
New to the forum and wanted to ask a question.
I have spent the last few weeks researching and building an audio system for my 2016 wrangler unlimited. I have decided that in order to get what want out of the sound system, I will have to completely gut and start from scratch. I am quite mechanically inclined having completed many modifications to various vehicles over the years. However, I do not know much about the car audio world, I am sure it will begin to show when I ask a few questions... Lol
My jeep has 6.5" speakers in the front lower dash and tweeters in the upper dash
In the rear it has 6.5" speakers and tweeters in the overhead sound bar
My plan is to replace the front speakers with a set of components. In the rear I will be removing the tweeters and replacing the 6.5"s with coax speakers
These speakers are all marine rated and rated for 100watts RMS, they will be powered by a 4 channel Mb Quart Marine rated amplifier at 75watts per channel @ 4ohms.
Here is my first question, the speakers I am using are rated at 3ohms, if I understand correctly this means they will acctually draw slightly more than 75watts under certain conditions.?
My second question concerns install logistics
While I am waiting for my speakers /amp/wiring /dynamat to be delivered, I plan on installing my new headunit. It is a pioneer app radio 4. I would prefer to not have to take it back out once I install it. Can I run my signal wire and 4 channel patch cables to my planned amp mounting location in an effort to make my amp install go a bit smother / less time consuming?
Sorry for being so long winded, and thanks in advance for any clarification
